Lieutenant Colonel Rashid Hamer-Ain Al Darmaky, Director of the Al Ain Civil Defence, said: “On being informed about the fire, a civil defence squad rushed to the rescue of the family comprising a father and four children. The officers dropped an eclectic ladder on to the villa’s rooftop, where the family had run for cover from the fire.”
Working concurrently with the rescue operation, another civil defence team doused the fire that gutted the villa’ hall, and managed to contain the flames before it escalated and spread to other parts of the villa.
He said the civil defence was reported about the fire by the Al Ain civil defence command room at around 4:18am.
