Sreenivas Shines in Al Sadiq YTCA Win

SHARJAH — A superb knock of 88 runs off 60 balls by Sreenivas helped Al Sadiq YTCA register their first win as they defeated Desert Cubs Cricket Academy by 60 runs in the Interface Gulf Cup under-12 cricket tournament organised by Young Talents Cricket Academy, under the auspices of Abu Dhabi Cricket Council.

Al Sadiq YTCA, who lost their opening match against DPS Sharjah, were a much improved outfit against Desert Cubs, a press release said.

Opening batsman, Sreenivas led from the front as he plundered two huge sixers and 10 boundaries against the helpless Desert Cubs bowling attack.

Sanjosh added to the scoring with 17 runs off 13 balls as Al Sadiq YTCA piled up 159 runs for five wickets in 25 overs.

Desert Cubs bowler Ashley claimed three wickets for 25 runs while Azmeer, who clean bowled top scorer Sreenivas, gave away for 20 runs. Desert Cubs, in reply, were restricted to 99 runs for eight wickets. Opening batsman, Ranul tried his best with 34 off 35 balls while Ramal scored 13. Nishant took two wickets for 17 runs for Al Sadiq YTCA.

In the under 14 matches, Zayed Cricket Academy (ZCA) and G Force Cricket Academy notched up easy wins.

ZCA playing on their home ground at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium thrashed Sherwood Academy by 93 runs while G Force CA beat Insportz Club by eight wickets at the Zabeel Park ground.

ZCA, batting first, piled up a huge total of 210 for nine wickets in 25 overs. Wasim Ahmad set the stage with a fine 77 off 35 balls, containing nine sixers and three boundaries.

Moaz Qazi also hit a brisk 40 off 21balls made with the help of three sixes and as many boundaries. Sanitha claimed four wickets for 37 runs for Sherwood. In reply, Mafaz’s four wicket haul was crucial as Sherwood were bundled out for 117 in 21 overs. Shann with 34 off 39 balls was the lone batsman to shine.

In the other match, Insportz Club put up a modest total of 97 for seven wickets in 20 overs while G Force replied by scoring 98 for two wickets in 18.3 overs. Interface Transworld are the title sponsors while co-sponsors included Nissan Tiida and Cool & Cool, UAE Exchange, Oudh Al Anfar, Everest Sports, Copthorne Hotel, Radio Partners – Hum FM, Television Partners – NTV.
