KKR, who have just four points from three matches, have been going through a tough season, reeling under the controversial mutiple captain theory and a mole in the team who gives out dressing room information through a blog.
A new captain in Brendon McCullum has not helped matters.
KKR team director Joy Bhattacharya said it was the team management’s decision to send back the two players. They will board the India-bound flight Monday.
”They are two very good senior international players so (coach) John Buchanan and the team management thought that if they are not going to have the opportunity, it is unfair to keep them around,” Bhattacharya was quoted as saying by media.
He said that both players, who have appeared for India, have taken the decsion in right spirit.
”Nobody is ever happy about going back, but they took it in the right frame of mind,” added Bhattacharya.
Chopra played in the first two matches while Bangar scored two runs in his only match against Rajasthan Royals Thursday.
Bhattacharya said there will no further trimming of the team.
”We are down to 11 Indians and seven of them need to play so we don’t think we will trim it,” he added.
