More than 30,000 Grade 12 students in the UAE expected to register for the Emirates Standardised Test (EmSAT) will be required to present a negative Covid-19 test result to sit for the exams.
The Ministry of Education (MoE) said the registration for the EmSAT in mathematics and physics opened at 256 centres across the nation on January 31. The tests will be taken on February 13.
All students will receive a notification to open the test session via email or SMS.
Candidates must provide the test centre with a negative PCR Covid-19 test result via the Al Hosn app. The test should have been taken within seven days of the exam. In case a student was infected with the virus, he/she must provide two negative test results,
EmSAT is a requirement for admission to public and private universities; military colleges and national service; and one of the conditions for admission for students applying to move outside the country through government institutions. It is an alternative to the TOEFL and IELTS tests inside the country in a number of universities.
The exam is compulsory for Grade 12 students — both Emiratis and non-Emiratis — and is applied at all public and private schools that follow the MoE curriculum and the private international curriculum.
Other rules
The ministry has issued a number of instructions that the student must adhere to:
> Obtain a ticket for each test.
> Make sure that the exam ticket is printed before each test.
> Bring the original Emirates ID card.
> Students must be present at the test centre at least 15 minutes before it starts.
> The student will receive a text message with the test results three weeks after taking it.
