A Dubai-based medical trading company has announced the launch of the first-ever reusable antibacterial/antiviral fabric masks that do not need to be removed while eating or drinking.
The Smart971 mask, launched by Taf-heem Group, has a unique zip function, that allows wearers to eat and drink without taking off the mask.
The mask has been tested and approved by the Dubai Municipality laboratory and also has a patented nano-coating solution that has been certified by the Emirates Authority for Standardisation and Metrology (ESMA), said Khamis Al Naqbi, managing partner of Taf-heem Group.
According to Al Naqbi, Taf-heem is a programme that provides awareness, education and guidance to migrant workers before they leave their country of origin, as per standards set by the UAE Government. The programme also works in accordance with the UAE's immigration standards along with Taw-jeeh and Tas-heel. Taf-heem Medical Supplies LLC was created as a result of the pandemic to diversify strategy and future business to create the Taf-heem prevention plan.
Al Naqbi has said there are three different types of Smart971 masks in different colours which are now available for purchase. "The VIP mask with safety pouch is priced at Dh99 while standard category costs Dh85 and kids' masks are available at Dh59. Care instructions of the mask are to hand-wash them with household soap, dry naturally and avoid tumble drying," explained Al Naqbi.
He said the masks are made from a 'dri-fit' fabric which is also used by professional athletes. "The main feature of this breathable coated mask is active protection which includes an antimicrobial shield against viruses and bacteria."
He added: "The Smart971 offers full protection and minimises cross-contamination. It's sweat-resistant and comfortable fit and an eco-friendly alternative due to the ease of washing and reuse." The company is also in the process of launching its first-ever antibacterial and antiviral re-usable prayer mat, a smart alternative to disposable mats.
