All government and semi-government employees and some private sector ones in Sharjah have to undergo mandatory PCR tests for Covid-19.

Government workers have to undergo the test every week.

Service sector employees like those at restaurants, cafes and salons have to undergo the test every two weeks.

Sharjah has become the latest emirate to issue this directive for government employees. Fully vaccinated employees are exempted from the requirement.

It's already mandatory for government employees at the federal level and those in Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah and Umm Al Quwain departments.

The Sharjah decision came as the local Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Team announced new Covid safety measures.
