‘Wasn’t the kiss done tastefully?’

YOU SHOT for an ad with Mr Bachchan recently? Yes. I have shot for a Cadbury's commercial with Amitabh Bachchan and I have also signed Kumar Mangat's film 'Sunday', which stars Ajay Devgan, Ayesha Takia, Arshad Warsi and Irrfan Khan. The ad will soon be on air.

anjanaWhat is your role in 'Sunday'?

I am not supposed to talk about it because 'Sunday' is a suspense comedy, but yes, I must say that I am very excited about working opposite established actors.

How did you get 'Sunday'?

All I can say is that I was destined to do this film. I went to meet Kumarji and he said I had come at the right time, because he was searching for a heroine for 'Sunday'. I went through the auditions, and then director Rohit Shetty told me that only two days ago somebody had told him to watch my debut film 'Hum Dum' and contact the girl who played the lead in it.

Tell us about the Cadbury's commercial.

The concept of the ad is about a man who will go to any lengths to get his chocolate fix. I shot for it at Inorbit Mall, Malad (a suburb in Mumbai), last week.

How was it working with the Big B?

I was mighty impressed with Mr Bachchan. I was standing under the sun and there was nobody holding an umbrella over my head, so Mr Bachchan sent his umbrella man to hold the umbrella over my head. How many people do that? He is a very warm person. I have grown up seeing his films and it was a privilege to work with him.

And what else have you been doing?

Well, nothing much. Sometime back, I went for a holiday to Goa. My brother (Rahul) had come from Spain and wanted me to take him there. A few of our friends joined us and we had a blast. Actually, Rahul was here for the premiere of Salaam-e-Ishq, after which we went to Goa.

How did you get the big film Salam-e-Ishq?

The producers of the film had seen me and promised to keep me posted if there was a suitable role for me. They spoke to Nikhil about me and showed him my photographs but somehow he didn't like me (giggles)! Later I was called to his office and while I waited in the lounge, a door opened, Nikhil came out, he looked at me for 30 second and told me that I was doing the film!

What did Rahul say about your kiss with Anil Kapoor in Salam-e-Ishq?

(Smiles) He didn't make a hue and cry about my kiss with Anil. After all, wasn't the kiss done very tastefully?

Were you disappointed when Salam-e-Ishq didn't do too well?

I would be lying if I say no. But it's okay. I learnt a lot of things from that film. It was a great opportunity for me to act with big actors so early in my career. Nowadays, one cannot predict the fate of any film.
