Last week it was announced that Shah Rukh Khan will collaborate with Dubai's Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DCTCM) for a series of short films that will be shot here. And BOOM, SRK landed in the city within two days to shoot those movies. While talking about this partnership, SRK said, "I am coming here to do something very special actually. Something perhaps I should have done before because I really like coming here. I am such a big fan of Dubai and its people. I have come here to shoot some films that will talk about the tourism that is available here. I like the fact that I have a house here. My kids love the beach. Everybody has something to do here. I like to be alone, so I like to sit down in the privacy of my house. Rest of the family can shop and go to restaurants. Everybody feels like home here. It is a home away from home." While talking to City Times a while back, his wife Gauri Khan said that she consideres her house at the Palm to be her most luxurious house.
Issam Kazim, CEO, DCTCM, said, "We are delighted to partner with Shah Rukh Khan for this special project, which highlights Dubai's diverse offerings that cater to every type of traveller. We look forward to exploring Shah Rukh's strong connection with Dubai, and sharing his unique experience with a global audience. These upcoming collaborations with the Bollywood industry will reinforce the strong role India has played in our city's evolution and further fortify our bond."
The project, comprising a series of short films, will see the actor unravel the secrets of Dubai, offering his fans a chance to see the exquisite city through his eyes.
In 2014, Shah Rukh shot for his film Happy New Year in Dubai. He also held the world premiere of the movie at Atlantis. SRK has always said that he considers Dubai as his second home. He said, "Dubai is a second home to me... Whether I am here on vacation with my family and friends or my many business trips here for shoots, it's a city that I truly relate to on so many levels - driven, passionate and spirited. And I can't wait to take my fans and fellow travellers from around the world on an unexpected discovery of a city that I love. This new collaboration with Dubai Tourism is exciting and one that I am personally very passionate about."
Slated to be released across various Dubai Tourism channels in December, the series of short films will kick-start a year-long campaign of multiple Dubai Tourism projects in collaboration with Bollywood.
This campaign underlines the importance of India as a key source market for inbound tourism to the emirate.
It has been conceptualised with the aim to strengthen and celebrate the bond and cultural links between Dubai and the subcontinent.

Brand it like SRK
Shah Rukh Khan is very open about the fact that he will go to any extent for money. He is the star who started the trend of dancing in weddings for money. He has a plethora of brands like cold drinks, Dish TV, watches, fairness cream, energy supplement, paint brand, biscuits, talcum power, soap, toothpaste, car, a tv brand etc. that he has promoted over the years. To sell Dubai as tourist destination would be a super easy job for him because, come on, who doesn't love Dubai?
