and initiate a romantic alliance with him since they reside in Ajman, failing which he would use his authority as a police officer to put them in trouble.
The two students of the Ajman University of Science and Technology (AUST), who are currently in Bahrain, claimed that the traffic police officer had followed them and forced them to stop at the Al Jarf area, asking them to introduce themselves. After they refused, he put a chain lock on their vehicle and a sticker carrying a statement saying the driver should contact the Ajman Police.
According to the news report, the two girls said they couldn’t leave the car for six hours until another police patrol arrived and released the lock and took them to the police station. Thereafter, the police lodged a complaint against them for violating traffic law and abusing the police.
Speaking to City Times, Lieutenant Colonel Ali Majid Al Matroushi, Director-General Of the Ajman Police Department, said, “The claim is baseless and fabricated.”
He disclosed that on November 19, the girl who was driving the car was speeding towards the Ajman City Centre. A patrol car with two officers stopped her and asked her for licence and the vehicle registration paper. But when she refused to show them, the officer instructed her to respect the safety regulation rules of the traffic and left.
Al Matroushi pointed out that later the patrol officers received a call from the operation room regarding an accident near the Ajman City Centre. When they proceeded to the accident site, they found the same girls disturbing the traffic movement, and forcing motorists to keep at a distance.
“When they were stopped by the police who asked for their licence again, they abused the police officers. As a result, the police officers lodged a complaint against them. During the interrogation, they also abused the interrogators, refused to give any explanation, and decided to call their consulate. The case is now referred to the Ajman Public Prosecution for further investigation and fair justice,” he added.
Lt. Col Matroushi said that the Ajman Police selects its officers after a thorough investigation of their background and behaviour. These police patrols are working under strict supervision to ensure that they are performing their police duties completely. Our officers are professional and qualified and understand the law. They work hard to ensure safety and security for the public, he pointed out.
