The actress made the declaration on social media while sharing a workout video.
She sounded very much like Mariel, had the same brilliant smile and perky manner and even bore a slight physical resemblance to the late-night game show host.
The show (which was called Games Uplate) has since given way to Pinoy Dream Academy, but up to now, a lot of people still ask her how she feels about being compared to Mariel in terms of hosting style.
“I guess that's our common denominator—we're both hyper, but I'm not intentionally trying to imitate her. It's really just a coincidence,” says Jaymee.
A former Mutyang Pilipinas finalist in 2004, Jaymee's big break on television came when she played Peachy in Bora, along with Joyce So and Mickey Joy Hyatt.
Jaymee also started as a TV commercial model for Pizza Hut, Petron and Cinderella, and appeared in print ads for SMART and the Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company, or PLDT.
She also made it to FHM Philippines' list of 100 sexiest women, coming in at number 82.
But Jaymee wants to prove that there is more to her than just her looks or her perky personality.
“I'd like to do more acting,” she says. “My dream is to become part of another comedy show like Bora, or maybe even do a dramatic role in a teleserye.”
That's not far off, since she is currently under contract with Star Magic. But while waiting for her next big project, Jaymee is busy doing corporate shows and attending to the re-launch of her website (www.jaymeejoaquin.com).
But while busy pursuing her showbiz career, Jaymee made sure that she didn't neglect her studies. She enrolled at De La Salle University's main campus along Taft Avenue in Manila, where she pursued a degree in Development Studies.
