“But not right away. We’ll be doing it next year. I’ll produce a film and it’s not really a period film. It would be a period film, but it won’t feel like one,” Saif told IANS.

“By that I mean it’d be very contemporary in terms of actions and emotions.

But in order to make those actions and emotions credible, the plot will be set in the past. Part of my character might have some Thugi traits. But I don’t play a thug, as defined in the history books.”

Saif’s first production venture is titled Agent Vinod will be directed by Sriram Raghavan. Saif will star in it with girlfriend Kareena.

“I’d love to make films for Kareena and my sister Soha. But I don’t have to star in all my productions. See, initially the whole idea was to give myself a chance to produce films and do the roles I wasn’t being offered.

“Now when I’m in my first three production being directed by Imtiaz Ali, Sriram Raghavan and Homi Adajania, I don’t mind playing just the producer in future.”

Saif, who featured in this year’s first hit Race, will also work in Karan Johar’s movie, which will be directed by Rensil D’Silva.

Another important development in Saif’s life is that his new home, which is much larger and more spacious, is complete.

Says Saif, “I needed a larger home.

The kids keep coming home to stay.”

Kareena makes it to Hollywood

IT WAS earlier hinted that Kareena Kapoor (off the sets of Sajid Nadiadwala’s Kambakht Ishq in LA) was meeting top Hollywood executives and discussing offers with them.

And now we can confirm the sexy actress has signed a film opposite Phantom, Mummy and Titanic actor Billy Zane for an undisclosed amount.

The film is tentatively titled Chamera and will be directed by Daniel Silverman of The Devil Wears Prada and Perfect Strangers.

Chamera, in which Kareena plays an Asian girl, will be shot over a 30-day schedule in North India.

With Hollywood biggies like Sylvester Stallone and rapper Sean Kingston praising her lately, sources close to the actress say that she believes this is the best phase of her career.
