Famous Bollywood actor Govinda is paying a very high price for slapping a fan in 2008.
The fan, Santosh Rai had been slapped on the sets on Govindas's film, 'Money Hai To Honey Hai' at the Filmistan Studio.
It is eight years later that the Coolie No 1 star has expressed his willingness to apologise to the fan and offer him Rs5 lakh as compensation for what he had done.
He had made this particular offer in the Supreme Court. This court had earlier faulted Govinda for failing to act with the grace and dignity of a public personality. He had been accused of this while he was still the Lok Sabha MP.
The Supreme Court has granted Govinda two week's time to apologise and give the compensation. According to ANI news the complainant, Santosh Rai, has been quoted as saying that he will not be completely satisfied with the compensation and that he would want Govinda to meet him first.
It was back in 2009 that Santosh had filed a complaint against Govinda in the Bombay High Court. But his complaint had been quelled in 2013.
This did not deter Santosh, and he took his complaint to the Supreme Court in 2014.
