Chesca's career on the upswing

However, her career wasn't always as healthy. There was a time when she was hardly getting any offers. As such, she is very thankful for all the good things that have come her way recently. “I feel very blessed,” she says.

Her career isn't the only thing that's flourishing—her love life is on the upswing as well. According to Chesca, her relationship with basketball player Doug Kramer couldn't be better. “We've been together for three years and six months, and each day [that we're together] is a celebration of our relationship,” she enthuses.

So how do they celebrate special occasions like anniversaries and monthsaries? “I usually forget [the date],” she admits sheepishly. “Doug [is the one who] always remembers—and he pulls out all the stops on those occasions.”

Chesca adds that their relationship is going strong because not only do they make time for each other, it is built on their [shared] faith. “Our faith keeps us strong in the face of whatever problems come our way,” she says.

Some of those problems have been caused by Doug's fans. He attracts a lot of fans because of his basketball career, some of whom send him amorous text messages.

“Ordinarily, his fans don't bother me. I'm happy that there are people who support him,” she says. “I only get upset when they go too far, like when they send him obscene messages. That's when I ask them—nicely, mind you—to stop.”

So what does she love most about Doug? “He's very thoughtful,” says Chesca. “There was a time when he bought me a two-seater couch that I'd been eyeing. He knew I wanted to buy it but didn't have the time to do so, so he went and bought it for me.”

During a recent interview, Chesca told the media that she and Doug are planning to get married. “We're looking at next year,” she says.
