Bolton Thrills Guests At Dubai Airshow Gala Dinner

Superstar Michael Bolton added to the thrill of the 2005 Dubai Airshow on Tuesday night when he entertained almost 4,000 guests at the event's prestigious Gala Dinner staged outdoors at the Dubai International Marine Club.

Bolton, who was flown in by Airshow Gala Dinner organisers the Department of Civil Aviation Dubai, Emirates Airline, and Dubai Duty Free performed for an exclusive audience that included heads of state, government representatives, airshow exhibitors, business representatives and media. Shaikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of the Department of Civil Aviation, made the Gala Dinner's opening address and also presented awards in seven categories to exhibitors for the 'best stands'. Patrouille de France was also presented with an award by Shaikh Ahmed in recognition of their aerobatic efforts during the week. Shaikh Ahmed said: "This is a special night of celebration for what is the ninth Dubai international aerospace exhibition. In the past few days some of the biggest deals in the aviation industry have been made and we are very proud that the United Arab Emirates has played host to a new and exciting chapter in aviation history."

Following Shaikh Ahmed's address and award presentations, guests were then treated to an energy-filled performance from Bolton who sung some of the classics which has seen him become one of the music industry's most successful singer/songwriters.


Anita Mehra Homayoun, Chairwoman of the Dubai Airshow Gala Dinner organising committee, said: "Michael has wonderful presence on stage and he really did put on a superb performance that will be remembered by everyone. The Gala Dinner has long been regarded as the social highlight of the Dubai Airshow and we were delighted to have attracted someone of the calibre of Michael who certainly lived up to all expectations." It was the American crooner's first ever performance in Dubai and it comes on the back of a successful UK tour.
