The world's heaviest gold ring worth about $3 million is on display at the 39th edition of the MidEast Watch & Jewellery Show in Sharjah but it's not for sale.
Made by Taiba Gold & Jewellery of Saudi Arabia, the 58.686kg gold ring is studded with 5.17kg of Swarovski stones. It has a certificate from the Guinness Book of World Records and is endorsed by the World Gold Council.
Smaller version of the gold ring is on sale with a price range of Dh1,200 to Dh1,500 in three colours - white, rose, gold. The Saudi jeweller has planned to open 1,000 showrooms in the next three years in Gulf countries, according to its top official.
"At the moment we have 18 shops including 12 in the UAE and our target is to take it to 1,000 in the next three years," Rossella sales manager Mazen Hamza told Khaleej Times on the first day of the exhibition.
So it's 27 shops every month and the UAE will get another 6 shops, Hamza informed. He declined to provide any investment amount for expansion but said the investment is big and the company is also big as its 50 years old jewellery firm. He informed that the ring was manufactured in Saudi Arabia in 45 days.
