UAE, Mauritius ink economic accords

ABU DHABI — The UAE and Mauritius initialled here on Monday two accords for promotion and protection of reciprocal investments and avoidance of double taxation. Khalid Al Bustani, Asst. Under Secretary of Finance for Resources and Budget, and Mustapha Mussafir, Mauritian Under Secretary for revenues, signed the agreements.

Al Bustani said the investment promotion accord aims at boosting cooperation between the two countries in various sectors, particularly economy and trade. ''Under the agreement, each country will take necessary measures to grant investors from both parties facilities and incentives required for the promotion of investment,’ noted Al Bustani.

He said the avoidance of double taxation agreement is set to enhance economic and commercial partnership between the two countries. ''It further helps to create an opportune atmosphere for encouraging air transport between them,’ he said. Monday’s signing brings to 31, the number of the investment promotion accords and to 37.
