A report in Business Times on Sunday had inadvertantly said Philip Morris had cancelled its commercial registration in the UAE. 'Philip Morris International Inc. (PMI) is one of the world's leading tobacco companies outside the United States. The company holds a 14.5 per cent share of the international cigarette market, employs over 40,000 people worldwide and has an interest in, operates or owns more than 50 factories,' it said. 'The company is committed to the responsible marketing and manufacturing of its products worldwide. PMI currently manufactures, markets, sells and distributes quality cigarettes in more than 160 countries. It produces seven of the top 20 best-selling international brands including Marlboro, the global cigarette brand leader, Lark, Chesterfield and L7M.' 'We have over 40 years of experience in the Mideast. We are proud of our strong relationship with our business partners and our consumers in the region. In 2003, PMI's market share accounted for over 23.4 per cent of the cigarettes sold in Mideast.'
