Monaco royal lauds Abu Dhabi

ABU DHABI — Prince Albert II of Monaco on Sunday visited Abu Dhabi’s Masdar City to see first-hand the visible progress and innovative technologies being integrated into the sustainable, cutting-edge urban development.

He also met with Masdar Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Dr Sultan Al Jaber to discuss the importance of global collaboration as a key driver in discovering and commercialising technologies to address the pressing challenges of climate change and energy security.

“The fact is, our environment is in trouble and we must unite in a global effort to change our habits. Protecting our environment and finding new sources of reliable power is the challenge that we face. Masdar, along with the visionary leadership of Abu Dhabi, is playing a vital role in discovering and delivering real results in renewable energy and clean technology innovation it shares the concern that I wish to address through the action of my Foundation,” Prince Albert II said.

He also met with Masdar senior staff to discuss the value Masdar City can bring in facilitating open innovation.

“Protecting our habitats and the environment is a global effort, and collaboration is critical in advancing innovation in areas like sustainable development and weather-driven sources of power,” he said. “Masdar is a place where the private sector and the scientific community can come together to make meaningful advancements in the areas our planet needs most.”
