Customers looking to purchase a new SUV for their families have two things on their minds when it comes down to narrowing their list of potential vehicles.
They want power as well as fuel efficiency, says Axel Dreyer, GM at Galadari Automobiles. Speaking at the Dubai International Motor Show, Dreyer said that this balance is "crucial in today's times."
Dreyer made his point with regards to the regional launch of the new mid-size Mazda CX-5 SUV. "The Mazda CX-5 is a premium Japanese product with a stunning design and many tech features for an unmatched value for money," he said.
Dreyer also described the car as a perfect fit for families due to its many safety features and spacious interior. The vehicle has received the very best of scores in both US and European crash tests, he revealed. Discerning customers with an eye for design would describe the car as "simply stunning."
"The new CX-5 has a head-up display which is unique in the SUV segment. This is not only a tech feature but also contributing to your safety as you do not have to look down to your tachometer or navigation system. The car is also well-equipped with the newest Skyactive engine technology which provides unmatched fuel economy," he said.
The SUV, which has already been launched in Europe, has been very well-received by the international community, and Dreyer expects interest and sales in the GCC to match those in Europe.
"In Europe, we have waiting lists for the car; but we have a significant stockpile for the GCC region, so customers can rest assured that when the car is available in showrooms starting next week, we are ready to serve them."
Asked if the company would launch any promotional offers during the Motor Show, he said: "We have just started our year-end campaign with phenomenal offers throughout the model range. This offer will be valid also during the Motor Show. Despite the current difficult market conditions and downward trend in the automotive market, Galadari has embarked on a new journey of growth with the Mazda brand in the UAE. We have had tremendous growth in both volume and market share during the last year and we do not want to stop there."
Speaking on the future of hybrids and electric cars in the region, Dreyer said Mazda had recently announced a joint venture with Toyota on electric and hybrid powertrains. "We are very excited about the new models coming from this collaboration. Mazda is known to defy conventions and they have proven this with the rotary engine and also the existing Skyactive engines. Now, Mazda has developed the new Skyactive X which is a gasoline engine that functions like a diesel engine. It will combine the best of two engine types with much less fuel consumption and emissions but still fun of revving."
