Kerala property show opens at Airport Expo

DUBAI — Kerala Property Expo, lining up around 50 property developers from the south Indian state, yesterday opened at the Airport Expo Dubai. Organised by the Kerala Builders Forum (KBF), an affiliate of the Confederation of Real Estate Developers Association of India, the expo showcases projects from various cities of Kerala.

The event, which is being held for the fourth consecutive year, is co-sponsored by HDFC and State Bank of India. George E George, Chairman KBF, said as the property prices are appreciating by 30 per cent year on year in most Kerala cities, it is a good opportunity to buy.

Addressing a Press conference, George said the last two years saw property investors harvesting double profit on their investments. "Property Expo 2008 is a platform for NRIs residing in Middle East to make informed decisions on investing in property, houses and villas in Kerala. It also gives opportunity to the builders to showcase their projects to potential clients."

Dr Najeeb Zackaria, Joint Secretary of KBF and Convener of Exhibition Committee, says NRIs prefer Kochi because it provides metro life and yet have a small-town ambiance. "The new generation youth are interested in settling in Kochi as the IT sector in the city offers an attractive career. The real estate sector in Kerala is booming with companies developing innovative, eco-friendly residential apartments." The expo will run till tomorrow.
