The trade exhibition is being organised by Dubai Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DCCI), Jebel Ali Free Zone Authority (JAFZA) and Dubai Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM). The event follows steady increases in bilateral trade in recent years and commitments by senior officials of both countries to strengthen mutually beneficial business ties for the future. It comes at a key time for UAE companies looking to expand into the Turkish market, with attractive investment opportunities on the horizon as a result of Turkey's privatisation programme. "The inaugural 'UAE Trade Exhibition in Turkey' will help to strengthen the existing relationship between the UAE and Turkey, not only in terms of trade but also in terms of the two countries' close social and cultural connections," said Sultan Lootah, DCCI manager of business promotion. "The exhibition has received a great deal of support from the Turkish chambers of commerce as well as Turkish exporters' unions and associations from the various industry sectors. We have also received very positive feedback from exhibitors and are confident that the event will be a great success." Turkey is ranked among the top 20 traders in the world with a trade volume of around $200 billion and organisers believe that the trade exhibition will act as a vehicle to link Turkey's high quality, good value products with UAE companies that possess global re-exporting capabilities. It will also provide a gateway to help UAE businesses maximise investment opportunities in Turkey. Exhibitors, which include Dubai Islamic Bank, Nakheel and the Dragon Mart Complex, Sharjah Airport International Free Zone, ENOC, Techno Park, FedEx and the National Bank of Dubai, will benefit from unique interaction with key players from Turkish trade unions and chambers of commerce as well as ministers, Government officials and high profile industry decision-makers. Event organisers will set up one-to-one business meetings for participants as well as a gala dinner for Turkish and UAE VIPs. The event will also include a conference hosted by the DCCI, JAFZA and Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC) focusing specifically on investment opportunities in the UAE for Turkish companies. Dubai's Techno Park is participating in the exhibition to attract investment from Turkish high-tech industries wanting to set up in the UAE. Techno Park is promoted by the Government to facilitate world-class research into various technologies, including oil and gas, desalination and water resources, energy and petrochemicals. It provides facilities and infrastructure to allow industries from around the world to set up a base and aims to be the premier technological hub in the region.
