CPC has already begun the required legal procedures to set up Bahra Cables over an area of 200,000 square metres at the cost of $53 million. The company is expected to begin operations in the mid of 2008. The foundation laying ceremony will be held at the end of this month.
Dr Faysal Alaquil, CPC's Secretary to the Board of Directors, said: "Bahra Cables Company will be the biggest in the Middle East and will be a substantial addition to the group of factories owned by the CPC, specialized in the production of precast, steel, aluminum, wooden works and other construction materials. The new production facility will address the needs of the North Africa, the Middle East and the Gulf regions and will produce high and medium voltage electrical cables".
"CPC is in the final stage of negotiations with Egypt's Authority for Industrial Development to develop a piece of land of 1.5 M2 in Egyptian city called "6th October" near Cairo." he added.
CPC Egypt will be established in Cairo.
