The four-day event, also featuring the "Middle East Flower & Garden Show," "Middle East Poultry Show," and "Middle East Aquaculture & Fishing Show," will attract some 52 exhibitors from 19 countries, marking a 15 per cent growth over the previous edition.
"Participants have come from 19 countries despite the current regional uncertainties, a fact underscoring the growing significance of the four trade events," said Abdulla A. Abulhoul, managing director, Mediac Communications & Exhibitions, which is organising the four shows.
Supported by the UAE Ministry of Agriculture & Fisheries, DUBAI World Trade Centre, and the DUBAI Municipality Veterinary Section, the exhibition is designed to support the region's rapidly evolving agriculture, horticulture, landscaping, green house, fertilizer, irrigation and animal husbandry and aquaculture and fishing sectors, Abulhoul said.
"Most of the exhibitors participating in the event will have the opportunity to take part in major governmental projects in agro based sector," he said.
He said the UAE with a GDP of $68 billion is one of the most vibrant economies in the region. "This exhibition is expected to play a key role in promoting various aspects of agri-business including date cultivation, farming, landscaping, irrigation systems, green houses, horticulture, fertilisers, agro-chemicals, agricultural and garden tools, coir products and fencing."
Middle East Flower & Garden Show (Gardenex), the only floriculture show in the Middle East, assumes greater significance with the setting up of the $300 million DUBAI Flower Centre under the flagship of the Department of Civil Aviation. "This International Flower Centre will make DUBAI the most modern flower transit and re-distribution hub in the Middle East and will be the only such state-of-the-art facility that will cater to cut flowers in transit through the Middle East."
As part of the Middle East Poultry Show, a symposium will be held by the Middle East Agriculture Publishers on April 22 at 6pm. The topic will be "Problems & Economies of Poultry Industry in the Gulf and Middle East."
The Middle East Aquaculture & Fishing Show, the newest event, will seek to provide a platform to companies catering the fishing industry.
"It will highlight the latest fish farming methods that are being implemented in the Middle East," he said.
