Adwea, Injazat in IT outsourcing deal

ABU DHABI — The Abu Dhabi Water and Electricity Authority (Adwea) has signed yesterday a memorandum of understanding with Injazat Data Systems awarding Injazat a 10-year IT outsourcing services deal to manage all of Adwea’s information technology requirements, including the transfer of over 150 of Adwea group’s IT staff to Injazat.

Adwea’s board chairman, Shaikh Dhiyab bin Zayed Al Nahyan, expressed satisfaction with the agreement. “This deal will further support the continuing success of Adwea and our innovative approach to the application of it to the business,’ Shaikh Dhiyab said, adding that the important partnership will begin immediately.

Under the agreement, Injazat will assume full responsibility for all of the IT requirements of the Adwea group of companies. Injazat will provide Adwea with a fully integrated IT managed service, comprising IT infrastructure management, application management and new project delivery. This deal is a landmark in the IT services industry in the region and will redefine how business realises true value from IT.

Injazat was established in the first quarter of 2005. Injazat is an information technology and business process services company that offers a wide range of outsourcing services. It is focused on providing IT outsourcing services to the utilities, oil ‘ gas, financial services, government, transportation and healthcare sectors. Injazat is a joint venture of Mubadala Development and Electronic Data Systems (EDS).

Mubadala Development is a public joint stock company, established and wholly owned by the Abu Dhabi Government with a mission to invest in commercially viable, strategic, industrial and commercial partnerships. EDS provides a broad portfolio of business and technology solutions including Information Technology, applications and business process services, as well as Information Technology transformation services. EDS has more than $20 billion in annual revenue and 120,000 employees.
