Glamourous actors, expensive cars, mansions, elaborate action sequences define Race 3 - Salman Khan's much-awaited Eid release of 2018.
Director Remo D'Souza enters the franchise and carries the mantle from Abbas-Mustan, the duo known for their stylish suspense thrillers.
Race 3 is a story of Shamsher Singh (Anil Kapoor) and his children who can't be trusted. He tries to resolve the arising conflict among his children, Salman Khan (Sikander), Daisy (Sanjana), Saqib Saleem (Suraj), and their trusted man, Bobby Deol (Yash).
Just like the earlier installations, the cast of Race 3 are glossy with their well-toned bodies and look perfect in every frame, including the action sequences. Not a hair goes out of place in the flawlessly choreographed action scenes between Daisy Shah and Jacqueline Fernandez.
Bobby Deol made headlines for his splashing comeback in a shirtless avatar in Race 3 but fails to make any lasting impression. He seems uninterested with his dead pan expression, even as his character is part of a major twist in the film.
Anil Kapoor, the only actor retained from the earlier films, can be seen enjoying his over-the-top character, which he plays with much gusto. Apart from him, the remaining cast of the film is easily replaceable, and any other actor could be roped in to play their parts.
Few minutes in the film are enough to make you cringe as you try to make sense of where the film is heading. The second half, in particular, will test your patience as the makers of the film introduce multiple twists and turns in every other scene. Overtime, we have come to expect this out of the Race movies but this time they are stretching it a bit too far.
Few action sequences in the film, specially the chase scenes in Cambodia, are badly done and leave much room for improvement in the VFX department. The action looks inspired from many Hollywood films like Fast and Furious series and Mr. and Mrs. Smith, to name a few.
Although the climax isn't something you guess but there is not a single nail-biting moment till you get there. As we move towards the climax, we have Jacqueline aiming from a military helicopter for over five minutes. The much-forced fighting sequence between Salman and Bobby Deol isn't of much consequence either.
