ABHAY IN TROUBLE
Recently we heard that Abhay Deol mortgaged his Mumbai flat. He suffered losses when his last film One By Two flopped at the box office. There were stories about how he was feeling let down because all the new directors that he had supported during their struggling days had left Abhay to look for greener pastures once they found success. Directors like Anurag Kashyap, Dibakar Banerjee and Imitaz Ali, who saw initial success in their career because of Abhay Deol, are now working with big actors like Ranbir Kapoor and Sushant Singh Rajput, amongst other high ranking stars. We know times surely do change, let’s hope this talented actor finds a way out of his troubles.
NEW PROJECT SHELVED?
After Lootera, Vikramaditya Motwane was ready to start his next project titled Bhavesh Joshi with Imran Khan. Shooting was supposed to begin in the beginning of this year. Imran Khan apparently walked out of the project beacause he wanted to spend time with his wife who is due to deliver their baby soon. Our sources said that Motwane had a word with Lootera actor Ranveer Singh about this project. Apparently Ranveer did show a lot of interest but now his attention is completely on Shuddhi. We hear that Vikramaditya may have shelved the idea of making this film for the time being and is working on another story.
WILL SHE, WON’T SHE?
Remember how Parineeti Chopra always gushed about being a die-hard Saif Ali Khan fan and how she finds him really good looking? Well, the lady now has a chance to work in a film with Saif. Apparently directors Abbas-Mustan have offered a script to Saif and Parineeti. Parineeti is in big demand these days, working with the likes of Aditya Chopra and Karan Johar. We wonder if she will sign the Abbas-Mustan film and star opposite the actor she adores.
QUEEN SHINES ON
Kangana Ranaut’s Queen has been a path-breaking film for Indian cinema and it earned a lot of praise and appreciation. According to trade sources, by collecting Rs21.2 crores in its second week, Queen became the first movie since Gadar to have a better second week than its first. One of the reasons that Queen has been a hit with the audience is the power of word of mouth. Kangana is on cloud nine and threw herself a big birthday bash for all her friends from the industry.
SUPPORTING THE UNDERDOG
There are major changes happening in the film industry. Big players are supporting underdogs like never before. Recently Aamir Khan’s wife, filmmaker Kiran Rao supported indie film Ship Of Theseus in getting a proper release. Now Anurag Kashyap will be presenting the award-winning documentary The World Before Her. Shimit Amin, Nandita Das, Deepa Mehta and Lisa Ray have joined hands as well to raise funds for the nationwide campaign to give the film a wider audience.
