Mohammed Mattar, Emirates’ Divisional Senior Vice President Airport Services, said some rescheduling of departure times for flights to and from Dubai will be done to allow for daily air displays of the Dubai Airshow.
“Passengers of all Emirates flights, in all classes, are required to check-in no later than 90 minutes before the scheduled departure time. Check-in counters will not accept passengers after this time.”
He said that boarding gates will close 50 minutes prior to the revised scheduled time of departure to ensure flights leave on time. Latecomers to the boarding gate will be denied boarding.
“Emirates is updating all affected bookings with the changes to check-in times and these details will also be reflected in our reservations systems. It has advised all travel agents, handling individual passenger bookings, of the changes for onward communication to their clients. Customers will also be able to check affected flights through our dedicated Emirates website,” he added.
Emirates recommends all passengers travelling on these dates allocate additional travel time to the airport, due to expected heavy traffic in and around the terminals for the Dubai Airshow.
Major General Mohammed Eid Al Mansouri, head of the security committee of the Dubai Airshow said all security preparations have been looked into and 1,497 members of the police force will participate in the show.
He warned that motorists who stop or park their cars on the road to watch the airshow and obstruct traffic would be fined.
He said that during last show no complaints were lodged except for the loss of small personal things.
He said more security plans were adopted and the number of police were increased to adapt to the expansion and the increase in the number of participants.
