His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on Wednesday launched the Youth Station initiative to support the startup ecosystem in the country.
The move, in line with other initiatives of the Federal Youth Foundation, will be the largest open commercial incubator distributed among the commercial centres, markets, airports and cultural and tourism facilities in the UAE.
Under the initiative, free work spaces equipped with essential services and tools will be provided to support the launch of new startups in vital locations to help young people start their own businesses.
The initiative aims to support young entrepreneurs and their startups in highly competitive markets. The new project will connect the new startups with a group of strategic partners across the country.
Each of the youth stations will provide the opportunity to launch new projects within a period of six months renewable in various areas of the country; in the areas most vital to the success of the business, where the Federal Foundation for Youth in collaboration with its partners in Yas Mall and Dubai International Airport, Dubai Mall, City Walk, Al Seef, Last Exit Al Qudra, Last Exit Mad X on Sheikh Zayed Road, Al Safa Art & Design Library, Al Ittihad Museum, City Center Mirdif, Sharjah Heartland, Ajman Science Park, Umm Al Quwain Mall, Manar Mall, Al Hamra Mall, City Centre Fujairah, and all youth centres in the UAE.
The foundation stipulates that young people, wishing to join the initiative and benefit from the youth stations that are provided, should be the owner of the business project of citizens of the state and the age group between 18 and 35.
It also says that the project does not have any branches in the country, where the stations are allocated for new commercial projects.
The Federal Youth Foundation will provide a range of benefits to young people participating in the initiative, in addition to free space allocation. Basic equipment and services will be provided free of charge, guidance will be provided, and a flexible and modern design will allow entrepreneurs to add a marketing identity to the projects.
