A Canadian expat has been honoured for saving the life of a woman who was about to jump off a bridge in the Capital.
The Abu Dhabi Police on Friday said the Canadian woman deserved the recognition for her swift action and humanitarian gesture.
When she spotted the woman on the bridge, she immediately approached her, talked to her, calmed her down, and helped her climb down the bridge, the police said. Then, she called the authorities.
"We appreciate the role of the Canadian woman and her good conduct in helping the woman and for quickly informing the police about the incident," said Brigadier-General Mohammad Suhail Al Rashdi, director of Criminal Security at the Abu Dhabi Police.
He noted that the Abu Dhabi Police are keen on recognising members of the community for their positive roles and contributions to the society.
