The UAE is a determined country that has demonstrated rapid strategic growth and infrastructure development since its foundation in 1971. Once an unknown desert land, it has come a long way to transform into an oasis that currently stands as an inspirational role model for nations across the globe.
The UAE, as we see it now, owes itself to the strong leadership of the country's founder, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. Sheikh Zayed, dubbed "Father of the Nation", was armed with a vision - to establish a prosperous country that would not only create a bustling platform of business and trade, but also retains modesty and the values of kindness and peace. This dream was further propelled with the discovery of oil.
Sheikh Zayed was a true leader with principles centred on wisdom, respect, sustainability and human development, long before the UAE was even established. And his legacy continues to live on in the hearts of Emiratis, as well as expatriates.
His vision now thrives under the current leadership of The President, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
Commenting on the visionaries of the country, Brian Etemad, Esq., a US-based attorney and founder of Global Multi-Billion Dirham entity, Tamleek Real Estate, shares his thoughts on various aspects of the UAE, its positive outlook, investment opportunities, exciting future, and of course, Tamleek's growth plans aligned with the nation. Excerpts from an interview:
Leadership
Leadership and foresight have set the UAE, Dubai in particular, apart from the rest of the world. I believe everything starts from the top. The leadership of the UAE have put in tremendous efforts to bring the UAE to where it stands now. If you are a visionary person, not only do you think about the present, but you think 100 years down the line. This is how His Highnesses, notably Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, lead by example. I have never met such a humble leader that visits places on his own and takes the time to interact with people, regardless of who they may be. It is his visionary attitude that has made Dubai a safe haven and a symbol of pride.
His Highness is the primary reason that makes investments and ventures in Dubai worth it. The regulations and framework in operations, based on his directions and directives, have created an accessible and convenient platform for all to set up businesses and succeed in the emirate of Dubai. The real estate sector, which is governed by the Dubai Land Department (DLD) and the Real Estate Regulatory Agency (RERA), practice transparency at all the highest levels and give investors the confidence and chance to obtain permits and licences at ease. Dubai has definitely made things a lot easier for individuals looking to invest in its future.
Safe haven with state-of-the-art amenities
The one thing that truly sets the UAE apart is its levels of safety and security spread across social and economic factors. In addition to this, Dubai offers amenities that outrival other destinations around the world. Dubai caters to individuals and families alike with the establishment of comfortable residences, opportunities to conduct business, good schooling systems, as well as incredible destinations including clean beaches, world-class restaurants and state-of-the-art retail and leisure outlets, to name a few. Dubai also boasts warm hospitality complemented by a safe environment, dedicated law enforcement and optimum security.
Dubai has created an orb of comfort as it enhances safety. As an expatriate, I would want peace of mind, knowing that my family is living in security and have access to various facilities, including world-class education and entertainment options. These are few factors that ensure that the real estate market in Dubai will never fail and has opportunities to flourish year after year. Dubai will always be successful, but the measure of success will depend on how developers plan to roll out the projects in the near future.
Globally connected
Geographically-speaking, the UAE enjoys a strategic location that connects the Middle East to both Eastern and Western regions. Its proximity to seaports and airports, in addition to advanced communications and a regulated framework for operations and licences, gives entrepreneurs an all-inclusive playground to bring their concepts to life. With Dubai possessing one of the globe's largest fleet of air carriers that fly non-stop to over 150 destinations, the world has indeed become a smaller place.
Land of opportunities
Dubai has emerged as an ideal destination for entrepreneurship and is an urban wonderland with metropolitan diversity that entices many to call the emirate their second home. The city boasts a large community of expatriates, each hailing from different countries and engaged in professions that enrich the emirate's economy.
In addition to the melting pot of diversity, the government continues to integrate and improve commercial transparency, whereby it introduces dynamic regulations that help creative minds turn ideas and dreams into reality. Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) also receive the support of several financial institutions that nurture growth.
Furthermore, with new visa regulations in place, expatriates receive more leverage to invest in the country. Specialists such as doctors and scientists, for instance, are granted 10-year residency, which further secures long-term commitment towards personal growth and success. Professionals can enjoy the freedom to establish oneself on an international platform, complemented by well-established regional and global route, world-class facilities, seamless integrated solutions, zero currency restrictions and an investor-friendly environment.
Brian Etemad - the Maverick of Real Estate If I had to describe myself, I would say that I am passionate, hardworking, persistent and extremely focused. I am an entrepreneur by nature, and with the Grace of GOD have succeeded in everything that I have done. I originally established Tamleek Real Estate as an Investment Advisory and brokerage and in the process changed the landscape of brokerages in Dubai whereby we act similar to developers, and not like a typical brokerage. I have never been a real estate broker and do not intend to be one in the future. I am an Attorney at Law from New York and an entrepreneur who enjoys elevating every company I lead to become the top of its sector, which we did in Tamleek and continue to do so to this day. Now the focus is elevating the Tamleek Real Estate REIT into a global investment entity with real estate investments surpassing billions of dirhams in the residential, hospitality and commercial sectors. I believe IQ or being book smart is not what defines a successful business leader, rather it is the mindset of how far you want to take your concept to succeed. As a CEO, I aim to lead by example, much like the UAE visionaries. I approach every challenge with the 930 belief and confidence that I will be the best in that field and my only competition is me. I also believe that the world has energy and karma - if you do good, good things will come to you. One of the keys to success in business is to accomplish your goals in private first, and once the goals and milestones have been reached, announce it publicly. |
