A model of UAE's first spacecraft that will orbit Mars is on display for the first time at the Dubai Airshow.
The spacecraft - named Hope - will be launched in July 2020 and coincide with UAE's 50th anniversary.
A model of Hope is being exhibited at the Emirates Mars Mission's stand at this year's Dubai Airshow, which witnessed thousands of visitors just on its first day.

"This is the first time that we displayed the model for the Emirates Mars mission: the Hope probe," Omran Sharaf, the Emirates Mars Mission project manager, told Khaleej Times.
"We decided to display it during the airshow because it's a very important event for us. It shows you how the probe is going to look like. It's a one-to-one scale model. It gives an idea to the visitors of the airshow the capabilities of the UAE of building spacecrafts."
Sharaf said the model took a few months to make as the team tried to build it very closely to how the real one would look like.  sarwat@khaleejtimes.com
