Saqr pardons 37 prisoners

RAS AL KHAIMAH — Thirty-seven inmates of Ras Al Khaimah prisons have been freed after they were pardoned by His Highness Shaikh Saqr bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah.

According to the Chairman of Ras Al Khaimah Courts Department, Ahmed Mohammed Al Khatiri, the pardon decree issued on Eid Al Adha will benefit inmates of various nationalities jailed for various crimes, but who have served some of their jail sentences.

He said the Ruler’s order was being implemented swiftly in cooperation with the general prosecution and the Ras Al Khaimah police to enable the beneficiaries to spend Eid with their families and relatives.

Hamdan’s gesture

Meanwhile, the UAE Deputy Prime Minister, Shaikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, has decided to settle the debt of 80 prisoners serving prison terms in Abu Dhabi on debt-related crimes.
