"Most of the time we use the Emirates Road to commute. This takes a very long time and the traffic on the road is also a primary concern.
“This new interchange will ease things for us as the time for travel would be reduced drastically. The RTA should be congratulated for finishing the project almost on time," said Alexander Stephens, a resident living in the Arabian Ranches.
Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of RTA, announced yesterday that the Arabian Ranches Interchange (5.5 Interchange) will be opened to traffic in all directions in mid-August this year.
The top official also said that 88 per cent construction work of the 5.5 (called 5.5 because it is located between the fifth and sixth interchanges) Interchange on the Shaikh Zayed Road near Jumeirah Lake Towers, has been completed so far.
The Dh409 million Arabian Ranches Interchange Project consists of 11 bridges extending about 2.5km, in addition to one underpass.
"The project involves widening of Umm Suqeim Road from four to eight lanes in each direction in a sector extending 2.5km.
