Abu Dhabi — About 1,360 plots of land in Shamkha South have been given to citizens in place of the plots allotted to them in Al Wathba North. This has been done in response to requests submitted by them, the Abu Dhabi City Municipality announced on Tuesday.
On June 1, the municipality launched Phase II of its Land Plots Replacement scheme covering other sectors.
The civic body stressed that it is ready to receive citizens’ requests in replacing their land plots and assist them through “flexible procedures”.
The system in place lets the civic body process land plot replacement transactions in the shortest time possible. The municipality stated that the scheme is part of the keenness of the Municipal System in Abu Dhabi Emirate to provide stability to Emirati families in implementation of the directives of “our prudent government”.
“It also reflects the commitment of the municipal system to citizens through providing livable communities offering stability to families and the community,” the municipality said in a Press statement.
The replacement of land plots in Al Wathba North by land plots in Al Shamkha South was driven by the availability of various infrastructural elements and public utilities in Shamkha South.
This, the municipality said, will speed up the urbanisation rate in the area and at the same time enhance family bonds and the social fabric.
In selecting land plots, the municipality adopted the “seniority (precedence) principle”, it said.
Interested citizens are required to visit the municipality’s head office on the Shaikh Zayed Street, or any customer service centre at external municipal centres, and sign an undertaking endorsing the replacement on the specified form. “Citizens are free to take or dismiss the step, as the entire process is optional and non-binding. (It) is only intended to (offer) ... an opportunity to citizens interested in benefiting (from) the completed utilities and infrastructure to construct their houses and building projects earlier,” said the municipality.
