Dubai - The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation (MBRF) has introduced three new books as part of its ‘Book in Minutes’ initiative. The initiative aims to strengthen the culture of reading in society by offering Arabic summaries of some of the latest international books relevant to individuals and families.
The initiative helps readers overcome challenges in creative efforts and identify the right priorities in life, and offers valuable insights on disciplining children with compassion.
The first book, ‘The War of Art’ by Steven Pressfield, enables the reader to understand how roadblocks can be avoided in creative endeavours — be it starting up a dream business venture, writing a novel or painting a masterpiece.
In the second book, 10-10-10, author Suzy Welch highlights how difficult it is to lead a life of one’s own choosing in today’s fast-paced world, with its competing priorities, information overload and confounding options. In such situations, people can easily find themselves steered by impulse and stress, and despite the best intentions, they may not be able to take the right decisions.
The third book, No-Drama Discipline by Daniel J. Siegel and Tina Payne Bryson, explores the ultimate child-raising challenge: Discipline.
In an opening note on the new series of ‘Book in Minutes’, Jamal bin Huwaireb, Managing Director of the MBRF, said: “Most people are unable to set priorities in their lives and as a result they struggle with their daily tasks. Such people are not able to take part in social activities and often fail to build good relations with their children and families. At the end of the day, they feel depressed, isolated and lack self-confidence without realising that identifying one’s priorities in life is the magic key to achieving happiness and satisfaction.” -reporters@khaleejtimes.com
