Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, has said that qualified Emirati skilled personnel are the driving force for achieving the UAE Vision and Future Government, which will be staffed by a new and exceptionally capable and innovative generation.
He said each stage has its requirements and leaders. "We are approaching a different stage with its own details and features apart from previous ones. Hence, it needs leaders that rise to the occasion to tackle challenges and issues that need to be addressed."
He noted that the huge ambitions of the people of the UAE and their aspirations to see their country among the top countries by 2021 are among those challenges.
Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid made the remarks while attending the graduation ceremony of the UAE Government Leaders Programme at the Presidential Palace in Abu Dhabi. The programme included creative leaders and government performance experts.
Among others present were H.H. Shaikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and UAE Minister of Finance, H.H. Lt. General Shaikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, H.H. Shaikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, H.H. Shaikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Shaikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture and Knowledge Development, and a number of ministers.
The Vice President said, "We want to prepare exceptional leaders capable of effecting positive changes to government work, create innovative ideas that precede future challenges by producing smart solutions and motivate work teams to come up with innovative ideas. Our future government visions requires all to think with a leader's spirit with far-sightedness, will as well as see chances of successes in challenges."
Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid underlined that the UAE government has so far managed to build models of young innovative leaders and elite of experts in the government performance field. He urged the UAE government leaders to work with a team's spirit to achieve national strategic objectives, happiness and welfare.
The first batch of graduates included the youth innovative leaders from the local and federal government as well as at private sector firms. They completed an intensive training programme for 18 months. It was implemented in coordination with universities and international institutions in the field of executive training such Ashridge Executive Education, Duke Corporate Education, University of Oxford, Cambridge School of Business, and Stanford University.
