Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will attend Parliament on Friday and answer all questions emanating from Panama Papers which refer to offshore companies of his children, Information Minister Parvez Rashid announced in the National Assembly on Tuesday.
The minister made the statement as the combined opposition in the House again staged walkout on second day reiterating resolve to continue boycotting the session until the premier comes to the House. Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Syed Khurshid Shah said the premier must explain his position and answer questions that are being raised. He said the opposition will return to the House on Friday and wait for Nawaz Sharif's statement.
Pakistan Thehreek-i-Insaaf's (PTI) senior leader Jehangir Tareen welcomed the announcement and said the opposition will prepare a set of questions to be asked from the prime minister regarding his or his children's foreign assets, the sources of funds of his children and whether taxes were paid at home.
Leader of the Opposition in the Senate, Chaudhry Aitzaz Ahsan, also stated that the opposition parties who dominate the Senate and had boycotted its session on Monday evening, will continue the boycott till the Sharif attends its session. He has come to the Upper House of Parliament only once in three years, he added.
Aitzaz said the premier set one offshore company in 1995 when he had paid zero tax.
