The complaints, lodged with the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs in the month of July, included 1,533 complaints in Abu Dhabi involving 2,362 labourers, according to the Labour Dispute Department at the ministry.
These complaints were related to various cases, including 1,027 complaints over unpaid salary, four complaints against occupational accidents, 45 related to cancellation of labour contracts, and 109 complaints pertaining to legal entitlements.
Out of these complaints, 330 cases were amicably settled, 170 cases were referred to court while 186 were pending and 26 cases required further investigation.
During the same month, the Labour office in Al Ain received 339 complaints involving 411 labourers and relating to different cases - mainly unpaid wages - whereby 161 complaints were against late payment of dues while three complaints were filled against occupational accidents, 45 complaints over cancellation of labour contracts and 109 cases pertaining to legal entitlements.
Out of these complaints, 31 cases were settled amicably, 10 were referred to court, 11 required more investigation while 63 cases were still pending.
Complaints filed with the labour office in Dubai were 2,128 complaints involving 3,254 workers, including 960 cases over unpaid salary and 13 complaints against occupational accidents.
According to the statistics, 1,168 cases were settled amicably, 517 were referred to court while 324 cases were kept for further investigation and 1,024 were pending.
