Mohammed meets defence ministers

ABU DHABI — General Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and UAE Defence Minister yesterday discussed separately with a number of defence ministers, who are here to attend the 7th Abu Dhabi International Defence Exhibition (Idex 2005), military cooperation with their respective states.

Gen. Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid also exchanged views on weaponry and advance technology being showcased at the exhibition with Staff Major General Bakri H. Saleh of Sudan, Prof. Philernon Sarungi of Tanzania, Vecdi Gonul of Turkey, Abdul Rahman Al Siba’ai of Morocco and Major General Safar Abiyev of Azerbaijan.

On the other hand, Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid thanked idex 2005 organisers for what he said a well and perfectly organised event. He noted that idex “is growing annually in terms of both the number of companies and participation high ranking officials and visitors."

"All are keen to take part in this exhibition, which receives a high turnout from all over the world.

"The UAE knows what it wants and what it does not want of the deals it may strike during the exhibition’s days. The officials will hold a comparison between what big companies may place on offer," he said, describing the event as “a show of peace not war."
