The dispute started with an accident that led to the death of the son of Dheeb Shawan Al Kahtani (of Al Kahtani tribe). Saif Rashid Al Khaili and his two sons Hamad and Saeed (of Balkhail tribe) were held liable.
The agreement to end the dispute and reach reconciliation was brokered by the Shaikhs and dignitaries from both tribes.
Accordingly, Sheeb Shawan Al Kahtani positively responded to calls for reconciliation and agreed to bury the hatchet forever.
At a ceremony held in accordance with the tribal customs, all the Shaikhs and dignitaries from both tribes met for consultation and then proceeded to the house of the deceased.
Hamad bin Suhail Al Khaili (leader of Balkhail tribe) delivered a speech and asked for pardon for the three individuals.
He conveyed to Al Kahtani, the father of the deceased, greetings from General Shaikh Mohammed and Shaikh Mansour bin Zayed, Minister of Presidential Affairs.
Al Kahtani responded to the request and received blood money and the key of a new car from the three Balkhails, a ceremonial tribal gift indicating that the dispute is over.
Shaikhs and dignitaries and members of the two tribes expressed appreciation for the help of Gen. Shaikh Mohammed and Shaikh mansour in the reconciliation bid.
