The police in Ajman and Ras Al Khaimah have recently launched Security Media patrols to cover and follow up with accurate news related to big accidents, incidents and disasters in the emirates. The move is in line with the strategy of the Ministry of Interior and in pursuance of the instructions of Lt-Gen Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior.
The patrol in Ajman is equipped with a team of reporters and photographers from the Department of Media and Public Relations of the police. The team has well trained members, who are instructed to respond to call at any time during an emergency to cover news accurately.
Maj-Gen Sheikh Sultan bin Abdullah Al Nuaimi, Commander-in-Chief of the Ajman Police, who inaugurated the "Security Media Advanced Patrol, said that the patrol will be the media arm of the police to keep abreast of events and speed the transfer of information from the event site. Providing security and safety and ensuring that all information are provided in accordance with efficiency and transparency standards will be the responsibility of the patrol. He said that the media patrol will support media coverage of all police events and provide more comprehensive videos and photographs for social media and other media means. Speedy coverage of events and incidents with transparency will ensure that the media would be provided with the facts using the best modern methods.
Major-General Ali Abdullah bin Alwan Al Nuaimi, General Commander of the RAK Police, said the new patrol will be present at most events and functions. "The new security media patrols, equipped with the latest gadgets and technologies, will help cover events in a transparent and unbiased manner. The new patrols will also provide all media support needed to all other patrols in action," he said.
Major Nora Al Shamsi, director of media and public relations, said that the media patrol will be dealing with all the media that compete to cover events. It will be manage filming of accident scenes, events or incidents. It will focus on issues related to the humanitarian and societal aspects. The videos, film and photographic material can be used for study and analysis of police research projects.
