A man threw away 124,000 yuan (Dh72,379) into trash, but fortunately got it back later through his neighbour. The bizarre incident took place in Liaoning, China.
As reported by NDTV, Wang got out of his home carrying two plastic bags with him. One of the bags had the money that he intended to deposit in the bank and the other had household waste in it.
He chucked the bag with the trash at a garbage collection point. On reaching the bank, he realised that it was the bag with the money that he had got rid of.
Wang called the police after being unable to find his bag at the garbage dump. The CCTV footage from the area revealed that a person had walked away with it.
It was later found that the bag had been discovered by a woman who was also Wang's neighbour, who turned to the police to find out the owner of the money.
Wang heaved a sigh of relief when the amount was returned to him.
