The Minister of External Affairs of India, Sushma Swaraj, has often come to the rescue of Indians stuck abroad or distressed foreigners needing visa for medical procedures. News of her extending help through Twitter is not uncommon and the Indian minister doesn't disappoint those who seek her aide.
On Tuesday, a man who lost his passport in Washington DC just days before his wedding to be held in India turned to Swaraj for assistance. Devatha Ravi Teja wrote in a tweet tagging Swaraj: "I have my wedding on August 13-15. Travelling on August 10. Please help me expedite my tatkal request and help me in attending my wedding in time. You are my only hope."
The minister took notice of the help-seeking-tweet but extended help. Swaraj tweeted in response and wrote: "You have lost your Passport at a very wrong time. However, we will help you reach for your wedding in time." She even tagged @IndianEmbassyUS to expedite the passport procedure for the groom-to-be, NDTV reported.
Devatha Ravi Teja - You have lost your Passport at a very wrong time. However, we will help you reach for your wedding in time.Twitterati is once again swooning over Swaraj's act and her tweet has collected over 3,000 'likes' and almost 500 retweets. One Twitter user wrote: "Very nice gesture ma'am," while another wrote: "This is a great gesture. We wish we have all our leaders with such a human heart."

Thank you @SushmaSwaraj ji. I will look forward for this. Really great gesture and it means the world. Thank you so much. However, the minister also receives some strange requests on Twitter other than visa-related issues. For instance, a man sought help from Swaraj because his refrigerator stopped working while another tweeted about his car. But, instead of ignoring such out-of-the-place tweets, the minister is known for her wittiest replies.
