Kustar, he added, aims to nurture and support highly-qualified and highly-innovative human resources that would contribute to the comprehensive boom of the UAE. General Shaikh Mohammed made his remarks in Abu Dhabi while presiding over a meeting of the board of trustees of Kustar.
The meeting was attended by Shaikh Hamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chief of Abu Dhabi Crown Prince’s Court and Chairman of the Higher Corporation for Specialised Economic Zones and Deputy Chairman of Kustar board of trustees.
General Shaikh Mohammed underscored the role of universities in turning the UAE into a regional higher education hub besides delivering social and economic services to the community.
He called for forging partnerships on research among universities and organisations of the public and private sectors besides increasing cooperation with the world’s prestigious institutions of higher education to create a successful academic environment for research and creativity.
“Higher education is the best way to prepare specialised human resources, leaders and researchers in all disciplines,” Shaikh Mohammed added.
The meeting discussed Kustar’s vision, mission and programmes. It also approved scholarship programmes for UAE male and female students.
The meeting also approved the university’s 5-year plan, post-graduate programmes, annual budget and the proposed secondment plan.
According to its mission statement, Kustar aims to provide a centre of excellence for learning and research primarily in telecommunication and related disciplines producing national graduates that meet the requirement of employers.
