Jail for deceiving Chinese

DUBAI — The Dubai Court sentenced a Pakistani, identified as Z. Alexander, to three months’ imprisonment on charges of deceiving a Chinese man identified as Jinej G.

The suspect convinced the victim, working in a restaurant, that he could arrange Canadian visa for him and his wife for a payment of Dh20,000. The victim paid the money, but the Pakistani failed to secure visas for the couple. Jinej subsequently lodged a complaint with the police who arrested Alexander and produced him in Court.

In another case, the Court sentenced an Indian identified as Jassan M to two months imprisonment on charges of stealing a mobile phone from the residence of an Indian merchant, identified as Sitia R. The accused took advantage of the owner’s absence from the villa when the latter was abroad, to steal the mobile. The merchant lodged a police complaint on his return.

Police arrested the suspect when he was trying to sell the mobile, and the latter confessed to the crime.

In a third case, Sayen Z., a Pakistani, was sentenced to three months in jail for selling alcohol. He was arrested when he was supplying the alcohol to his customers near Hor Al Anz area.
