Jail for ‘blood sample cheating’
DUBAI - The Dubai Criminal Court yesterday sentenced two Chinese women, 27-year-old Hang H. and 44-year-old Rang B., to a 3-month prison term each for giving blood sample in the name of the other to obtain medical fitness certificate which is required for applying a residence visa.
The court heard that the two women went to the Preventive Medicine Department at Al Baraha Hospital on May 10 to undergo medical checkup and obtain a ‘free of contagious disease’ certificate so that one of them could apply for residence visa. One of the women gave the blood sample and submitted the form with the photo of the other attached on it. The official collecting the forms, however, detected the fraud and the women were arrested by the police.
