A new digital platform introduced at the Abu Dhabi courts will see instant translation of judgments into five languages: English, Hindi, Filipino, Russian and Urdu, it was announced on Sunday. Litigants just need to scan a QR code to get the translations in their desired language.
The e-platform will issue "interactive" judgments to help litigants understand the content and what to do next. The Abu Dhabi Judicial Department (ADJD) said the platform is the first of its kind in the world in judicial systems.
Additionally, educational videos will be displayed to illustrate the procedures to be taken following the judgments, including any restrictions for filling appeals, time limits for contesting judgments before the appellate or cassation courts, and the methods of enforcing judgments for each case type.
Yousef Saeed Al Abri, undersecretary of the ADJD, said: "The launch of this pilot project will accelerate our steps towards being a world-class judicial system."
One aspect of the project is related to the writing of the judgments itself. This "practice direction" will see the authorities use special terminology and templates that help maintain quality and consistency. "Besides, duplicates will be issued in distinctive colours to highlight the type of the court hearing the case. This will help litigants recognise the court which issued it."
