When the logic of science converges with age-old wisdom from mysticism, there emerges - the science of spirituality.
Spreading the message of positivity and interfaith harmony, Sant Rajinder Singh, known as 'scientist saint', was in Abu Dhabi and Dubai recently, where thousands of people including Indian Ambassador to the UAE Navdeep Singh Suri and Consul-General of India Vipul applauded his talk on the true building blocks of peace.
Singh is the president of The Science of Spirituality, a non-profit organisation dedicated to spirituality, peace and service to humanity. He is recognised worldwide for his work on inner and outer peace through the science of spirituality.
Born in India and educated as a scientist in the United States, Singh has a keen understanding of both mysticism and science, and this has helped him express the age-old mystical teachings in clear, logical language.
Singh's talk during the National Day long weekend focused on the main idea that one can achieve peace through a "firsthand experience" of his or her own soul, and it can be done by directly contacting with "the light and sound of God" through meditation.
"This light and sound is within each one of us and the experience of connecting with it goes far beyond a general sense of well-being, relaxation or peace," he said.
"We are so busy with worldly pleasures that we have completely deprived our soul by keeping it away from the remembrance of God. The soul gets its nourishment from the remembrance of God. Therefore, if you want to connect with your inner self and bring peace to your heart, you need to remember God through meditation," Singh added.
Singh was in Abu Dhabi on November 30 and December 1 and addressed a crowd of about 3,000 people. Then he spent the next two days in Dubai where his talks saw a footfall of another 3,000 people.
Vipul, who attended Singh's talk in Dubai, said: "I'm also a science student and many of us have always had this thought in our minds that is there something behind science. Can we connect to the soul through science? All these questions were answered by Sant ji."
An attendee from Chicago, Illinois, said: "My wife and I have travelled around the world for decades to attend Singh ji's talks. Each one is more enlightening than the last. What we love about his message is the emphasis on direct experience and the practicality of what he teaches."
