The Dhakhliyah Water Supply Scheme is being carried out by the Public Authority for Electricity and Water (PAEW) to supply water to the wilayats in the region from the Birka Desalination Plant.
The RO21 million Phase 1 includes supply of water to the wilayats of Bid Bid and Sumayil. The remote-operated project consists of three main pumping stations at Al Khoud, Fanja and Sumayil and six underground tank with capacities ranging between 500 and 100,000 square metres.
It was officially opened at a ceremony Sumayil by Agriculture Minister Shaikh Salim bin Hilal Al Khalili. PAEW Chairman Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Mahrouqi said the authority was currently evaluating a project to supply water to Jabal Al Akhdhar.
