Envoy clarifies on travel regulations

DUBAI — Philippine Consul-General Benito B. Valeriano has appealed to Filipino Muslim expatriates to understand the intention of the immigration bureau in enforcing a stricter travel requirement at the airports for tourists bound for the UAE.

Speaking at a function to mark Eid and sixth anniversary of the Muslim Maranao Community held at a hotel here, Valeriano explained that the new immigration departure procedure requiring travellers to prove that their travel to the UAE is for holidaying and not for work is solely fortheir protection and should not be considered as a burden on them.
